For years there has been an effort to eliminate the so-called “windfall elimination provision” and “government pension offset” laws (WEP/GPO).

 Both of them penalize faculty who have worked in other positions before working at the college and contributed to Social Security through their previous employment. 

The law hurts all of us, but is specifically hurtful to our part time faculty.  

Currently, congress is considering   H.R.82 – Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 to  end these unjust reductions in our retirement benefits and FACCC is helping with  an Action link which I have highlighted below.
